Charity for Kids

Charity for Kids was established in 2011 to provide help for disabled, sick and terminally ill children – and their families – across Sussex.  We have helped children and their families with everything from specialised wheelchairs and walking frames to hot tubs and garden landscaping

Hastings and Rother Credit Union

Credit Unions are financial co-operatives owned and controlled by their members. All our members live and/or work in Hastings Borough or Rother District.

Credit unions serve the local community so when you invest in your local credit union, you know your neighbours or colleagues are benefiting, not outside shareholders. You are not contributing to massive salaries and bonuses as much of the work is done by volunteers; we pay for just one part-timer.

Lets do Business Group

With its origins in Hastings over 20 years ago the Group has developed from an Enterprise Agency and town Chamber of Commerce to become a leading provider of business advice, training, access to finance and business events in the South East. As well as its work directly with businesses the Group contracts with a range of public and private sector partners to deliver projects and contracts – worth over £10m over the last 10 years.

Lions Club of Hastings

As well as the Hastings Half Marathon, we also organise an annual golf tournament and a variety of fund raising activities including collections at supermarkets and garden centres. We also assist other local organisations with their fundraising events including the Hastings Carnival, Hastings Bonfire Society, Hastings Runners and other local Lions Clubs in our Zone.

We help our community by taking familes to meet Santa, providing message in a bottle kits and helping with the Zone It's a Special Knockout.

North East Hastings Big Local

Big Local is an exciting opportunity for residents in 150 areas around England to use at least £1m to make a massive and lasting positive difference to their communities. It’s about bringing together all the local talent, ambitions, skills and energy from individuals, groups and organisations who want to make their area an even better place to live. Big Local nationally is being run by Local Trust, which is working with over £200m from the Big Lottery Fund and a range of partners providing expert advice and support for residents. The four programme outcomes for Big Local are:

  1. Communities will be better able to identify local needs and take action in response to them.
  2. People will have increased skills and confidence, so that they continue to identify and respond to needs in the future.
  3. The community will make a difference to the needs it prioritises.
  4. People will feel that their area is an even better place to live.

What Big Local is NOT about: It’s NOT about the local authority, the government or a national organisation telling us what to do. It’s NOT about individual groups fixing their favourite problem without talking to a wide range of different people who live and work in the community. It’s NOT about short-term thinking – we have 10 years or more to plan and deliver the best options for our area.
